Foot Steps

In These Times

24 Nov

You know you need to travel.

But, how are you going to take that first step when you can’t see the road ahead?

For openers, we can release any impulse to apply force or coercion – to make things happen. Short of hiring a warehouse full of mega-watt floodlights and setting ‘em up along the freeway, you’re not going to be able to see the way.

Until you do.

Yet, you can and do FEEL it. Right now. That stirring in your gut is letting you know that your soul is on the move.

That feeling is your guide. An active, able-footed companion. Decked-out with the sturdy mountain boots you’ll need to go the distance.

So how do you come to know something when you don’t know it now?

You listen. And observe.

And I don’t mean just with the ears and eyes.

The entirety of your physical, emotional and spirit body is clothed in the garments of a profound capacity — to receive subtle assistance. You coax an opening into greater receptivity by offering the honor of your attention.

What was that little inkling you noticed as you were stirring the batter for your pumpkin pie? So tiny and timid that you barely caught a glimpse.

Yet, you did. Oooh. What was that?

It felt so insignificant. But you detected a message within it that had a much bigger voice.

You caught hold of a gossamer-thin thread of faith and recorded that whisper. There now. It’s down in black and white.

You steady your resolve. Resisting temptation to blow it off as an ‘overactive imagination’. Afterall …

What is now proved was once only imagined.

William Blake

The very next time that voice comes to call, she brings flowers to your door.

Emboldened now, you take your first step into the unrevealed.

You’re starting to catch sight of the ‘what’ that is drawing you forward.

Not quite yet, the ‘when’. The timing of it.

Because as you’ve discovered by now, the Universe moves only to the authority of her own prompt.

But take heart. Soon enough the momentum of inevitability will hoist you onto its wings.

Carrying you onward into the adventure that was, only yours, to say yes to.

It’s your road and yours alone.
Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.

Rumi

Foot step, by divinely-guided, foot step.

Your path ahead. Bathed in the light of a thousand candles.
