Do you remember when our language first began to lie?
When fiction stole the reins from truth
and fact morphed stealthily into deception?
Harbinger of war tricked out in the garb
of emissary for peace …?
When collective conscience missed a beat,
and acquiescence usurped our right to question,
seizing our silence as sanction for what we detest.
It’s no wonder we feel crazy and confused.
Have we lost our minds?
Or merely lost sight of the broad consequence
that spinning a tale has on the story being told?
Let it be known that we will not surrender
to this brawny Big Boy Lie,
all pumped and puffed up on delusion,
intimidating us with his demands and
strong-arming challengers off the playing field.
While mainstream front pages are still blowing wind at his sails
and too few have temerity to oppose him,
we, the people, are recovering our senses and learning how to say NO.
NO to suppression and control.
NO to our evaporating freedom and civil liberties.
NO to a world-view that does not value our place in it.
We, the people, are recovering our YES.
We affirm dialogue and deep listening.
We affirm our freedom to choose.
We affirm dignity and inclusion.
May respect set us free.
May love lead the way.
That’s an awesome point
Thank you!
