I listen to the gurgle of a bubbling brook
on my kitchen burner.
It’s like a day at the springs.
Soaking my senses in medicinal waters,
sensibilities attuned
to the mercy of this moment, now.
The breath inside of me,
is the rhythm of the sea.
I look into my eyes,
piercing the deep calm core of a primal sea
at the heart of it all.
Pulsing beat of the earth.
Water on the boil wears a more ragged face too,
that spits and hisses,
splattering out of its pot, spitting heat
at the whim of its agitated reach.
Emotions on fire, furiously roiling,
my vessel shipwrecked at sea.
What sting of betrayal is this?
Once soul soothing sensory sounds
biting me now like a viper with an angry tongue?
A day in the life of a human body …
Swinging between tempers of sentience,
from peaceful to perturbing.
Such is the bounty of human condition,
ravenous to indulge the most sumptuous feast.
Our feelings …
The jealousy of angels aroused at this opportunity,
at once precious and painful.
Thank you, Life, thank you.
